Afiyaddin Mammadov – Chairman of the Trade Unions Confederation “Workers’ Table” Arrested: 20 September 2023 Charge: Articles 126.1 (Deliberate causing of serious harm to health, is harm dangerous to human life), 126.2.4 (Deliberate causing of serious harm to health, is harm dangerous to human life, committed publicly dangers a way, from hooligan prompting), 221.3 (Hooliganism committed with application of a weapon or subjects, used as the weapon) and 228.4 (Illegal purchase, selling or carrying of gas weapon, cold steel, including throwing weapon, except for districts where carrying of a cold steel is an accessory of a national suit or connected to hunting) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
On 21 September 2023, the Baku City Khatai District Court issued an order: to satisfy the investigator’s petition on arrest and issue a preventive measure against Afiyaddin Mammadov in the form of arrest for a period of 2 months.
The period of detention in custody during the investigation has been subsequently extended several times 55 Sentence: On 14 January 2025, the Baku Court for Serious Crimes issued a verdict: to find Afiyaddin Mammadov guilty on all charges and sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment with serving the sentence in a general regime penal institution.

According to the relatives and members of Trade Unions Confederation “Workers’ Table”, “Afiyaddin was detained when he left the building where he lives.
One person approached him, he injured himself with a knife and threw the knife at Afiyaddin.
And the police immediately appeared and detained Afiyaddin.” The organization believes that Mammadov’s detention is related to his trade union activities and a provocation was committed against him.
Afiyaddin Mammadov himself also said about his innocence and claims that he is being unjustly targeted for his activities within the organization.
