On 7 January 2026, the Masally District Court imposed a preventive measure in the form of deprivation of liberty against Alikhan Rajabli for the period of 3 months during the preliminary investigation.
Place of detention: Pre-trial Detention Center № 1 at the Kyurdakhani settlement in Baku City Sabunchu District Conclusion: On 7 January 2026, Alikhan Rajabli, the APFP activist from the Masally district branch, was arrested on charges of drug dealing by the police.
To protest against the unlawful arrest on trumped-up charges, Alikhan Rajabli inflicted cuts on his arms. 88 According to PFPA press secretary Natiq Adilov, Rajabli actively criticised the situation in his district on social media, which irritated the local authorities.
On 9 December 2025, Rajabli sent a message to his party colleagues saying that the policemen dressed in civil have been watching him.
He understood that he would be arrested, and therefore tried not to provoke the police.
A few days prior to his arrest, a local police officer by the name of Elvin attempted to provoke a fight and struck Rajabli, but the latter did not retaliate, understanding that it was a provocation.
He was then simply arrested on the street.
