Delayed Medical Care

BAKU — The health condition of Elkhan Aliyev, a political prisoner and member of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party’s (APFP) Organization Department, has sharply worsened as he awaits urgently needed medical attention.
Aliyev reports that despite receiving assurances from authorities that he would be provided with proper medical care and undergo a necessary MRI scan, the procedure has been continually stalled. While his family has managed to deliver certain medications prescribed by his personal physician, Aliyev stressed that the MRI examination remains critical to accurately assess his status.
The urgency of the medical intervention is tied to Aliyev’s fragile health history. He suffered a stroke shortly before his arrest and required constant medical supervision. Without access to adequate and regular medical treatment during his incarceration, his physical condition has periodically experienced severe complications.
