On 26 January 2023, Mail Karimov testified in the Baku City Khazar District Court. The next court session was scheduled on 2 February 2023. But when Mail Karimov arrived at the court on 2 February, he was arrested by officers of the 14th Police Department. Only after two days his family learns about the arrest of Mail Karimov and the initiation of a criminal case against him. On 2 February 2023, the Baku City Khazar District Court issued a ruling: to apply a preventive measure against Mail Karimov in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. During the search, the police tried to plant religious leaflets and photos of Ayatollah Khamenei and other leaders of Iran. However, Mail Karimov's wife began filming the search on her phone. The police tried to take her phone away from her, but the children intervened and did not allow the police to throw something.
