Place of detention: Pre-trial Detention Center № 1 at the Kyurdakhani settlement in Baku City Sabunchu District Conclusion: Elgiz Mammadov, an activist of the “Muslim Unity” Movement who worked as a driver in one of the private companies, was kidnapped while performing his official duties by unknown individuals in civilian clothes in Keshla settlement, on the outskirts of Baku, on 10 June 2025.
His relatives' inquiries to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other state bodies did not yield any results.
Only on the third day of E.Mammadov's disappearance, his whereabouts became known.
It turned out that he was detained by the officers of the Baku Internal Affairs Nizami District Department.
According to his relatives, at the police station, the believer was subjected to cruel torture.
The police tried to make a video of his confession about possession of drugs.
But Elgiz Mammadov claimed that he was not a drug user and never consumed drugs at all denying the accusations.
He was then forced to drink some water into which the drugs had been mixed.
Elgiz Mammadov, who had never taken drugs, felt so sick that the police were obliged to call an ambulance and briefly placed him in the Baku Clinical Medical Center No. 1, where physicians treated the detainee.
Zibeyda Sadigova, the believer's lawyer, told the journalists that traces of torture could be clearly seen on Elgiz Mammadov's body, and pointed out that she had appealed to the Ombudsman on the matter.
