Ismayil Mammadov – believer Date of arrest: 3 March 2026 207 Charge: Article 234.4.3 (Illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances committed in large amount) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.

On 3 March 2026, Ismayil Mammadov was sentenced to 3 months in a pre-trial detention.

Place of detention: Pre-trial Detention Center № 1 at the Kyurdakhani settlement in Baku City Sabunchu District Conclusion: According to Ismayil Mammadov’s wife, her husband was in a café together with two other believers in the evening of 3 March 2026.

As Mammadov was leaving the café, 7–8 police officers in civilian clothes approached him, forcibly dragged him into a car, and took him to the police department.

There, Ismayil Mammadov was beaten, and the police demanded him to admit to drugs addiction.

Later, Ismayil Mammadov recounted it during a meeting with his lawyer, who said, "Ismayil indignantly stated: ‘How can I take something that I oppose, have never used, and have never even seen?’ In response, the investigator said that for them there was no problem — they could plant drugs either in the car of one of his family members or in their home." His wife further stated that Ismayil Mammadov had not intimidated or accepted the drug-related accusations.

He asked, "I have always helped drug addicts and tried to persuade them to stop, and now you are arresting me for what I did?" Then, the investigator required his phone password.

Ismayil Mammadov again refused to do it, after which he was subjected to torture.

According to both his wife and his lawyer, the torture caused him to lose consciousness, and in the end he could no longer endure it and was forced to give them the password to his phone.

He also stated that he had drunk a glass of water at the police station, after which a blood test had shown the presence of drugs.

According to his wife, for almost 20 days she was unable to meet with him because the investigator didn’t grant her permission for such a meeting.
