On 24 May 2024, the Baku City Sabunchu District Court issued a ruling: to satisfy the investigator's petition to elect a measure of restraint in the form of arrest and impose on Mehman Aliyev a measure of restraint in the form of arrest for a period of 3 months.
The period of detention in custody during the investigation has been subsequently extended times Sentence: On 15 April 2025, the Baku City Court of Serious Crimes issued a verdict against Mehman Aliyev: he was found guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment.

Upon hearing the cries for help, Mehman Aliyev came out to the street and recognised his cousin as the one screaming for help.
As Aydin Aliyev, the PFPA activist's father, later told the journalists, "Ali shouted that they wanted to accuse him of distributing drugs.
Someone who was in the crowd gathered to the noise said that we should take a video of what was going on.
Mehman started shooting on his phone and suggested to the policemen in civilian clothes to search Ali while he was videotaping.That would have recorded what was actually taken out of Ali's pockets.
However, the police officers persisted in their attempts to put Aliyev in the car, at some point he ended up cutting his hands.
Only after that the police let him go".
Mehman Aliyev uploaded a video of violent detention on the Facebook page of “Azadliq" newspaper.
The one-minute video clip contains footage of an attempt to detain a man who is cutting his hands.
The video is followed by an audio recording in which a police officer persuades M.Aliyev to come over to the police and delete the video.
There is also an audio recording in which the police officers demand Mehman's mother to ask her son to delete the video, otherwise he will be arrested.
Mehman Aliyev was not scared of the threats and did not delete the video.
Then, when he was in Baku, the police detained him and Ali Isayev.
Only 5 days later, his relatives found out about the arrest.
Mehman called them to say that he had been in the pre-trial detention center in Kyurdakhani settlement and accused of selling heroin.
At the PFPA they confirmed that Mehman Aliyev was a member of the party and his arrest is linked to the video material on the police actions he had spread around. 69
