Political Prisoner Agali Yahyayev Reported in Deteriorating Health

The family of imprisoned activist Agali Yahyayev reports that his health has significantly deteriorated over the past month. Yahyayev who suffers from diabetes and heart conditions has allegedly been denied adequate medical treatment in Penitentiary No. 14.

His wife stated that during her last visit he appeared significantly thinner and complained of chest pains. She has written to the Ombudsman’s office and the International Committee of the Red Cross requesting intervention.

Yahyayev was sentenced to six years in 2024 for organizing unauthorized protests. Toplum TV first reported on his declining condition based on family interviews.
