Ukraine strikes oil and gas infrastructure in southern Russia

Ukraine says it has carried out coordinated strikes on key oil and gas infrastructure in southern Russia, including facilities in the Krasnodar region and Volgograd region.

According to a statement from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the operation involved coordinated actions by special units, including the “Alpha” Special Operations Center, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, and the Defence Intelligence Directorate.

The SBU said the “Tamanneftegaz” terminal in Krasnodar Krai — described as one of the largest facilities in southern Russia for the transportation and loading of liquid hydrocarbons — was among the targets. Ukrainian officials claim that several storage tanks and loading infrastructure were hit by drone strikes, causing significant disruption to the facility’s operations, although the extent of the damage has not been independently verified.

Ukraine also reported a separate strike on an oil pumping station near the settlement of Kotovo in Russia’s Volgograd region. Kyiv says the facility plays an important role in Russia’s oil transportation and export network.

In recent months, Ukraine has intensified drone attacks targeting Russian energy and logistics infrastructure. Russian authorities, meanwhile, have frequently stated that such attacks are being intercepted or mitigated, and that key infrastructure remains under control.

The claims made by both sides could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
