On 19 March 2024, the Qazakh City inhabitant Mirjafar Huseynzade was sentenced to 4 months in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the preliminary investigation.

Then, in November 2021, he was forcibly placed in a local psychiatric hospital.

Only two weeks later, his family members were able to secure his release.

Following the order of the district authorities, the unemployed M.Huseynzade stopped receiving his minuscule pension, the financial situation of his family worsened.

Then, in early March 2024, he appealed to Ilham Aliyev with a video message complaining about the local administration and asking for help in finding a job.

The reaction of the local authorities was immediate: on 17 March 2024, M.Huseynzade left the house to buy cigarettes.

His wife, being afraid of provocation, followed him.

But when she was in the street, she did not find him, as 4 policemen in civilian clothes quickly approached him, put a bag over his head and dragged him into a car.

He was brought to the Qazakh police station and there they tried to forcibly insert drugs into his pocket.

M.Huseynzade resisted and, although the policemen managed to forcefully put a bag of drugs into M.Huseynzade's pocket, he refused to sign a paper stating that it was his drugs.

He was physically and psychologically harassed, but the police failed to get his confession.

At the trial he refused to plead guilty to the charges and stated that he had been subjected to physical and psychological pressure by the police who forcibly stuck the bag with drugs on him. 182
